First Minister Nicola Sturgeon set out her plan for an independence referendum in the face of a hard Brexit.

In a speech ahead of the UK Government triggering the UK’s formal process to exit from the European Union, the First Minister said that, despite Scotland voting by 62% to 38% to remain in Europe, the UK Government ‘has not moved even an inch in pursuit of compromise and agreement’.

New figures show unemployment levels fell by 16,000 over the most recent quarter to 129,000, with the rate down 0.6 percentage points to 4.7%.

People across Scotland begin to receive letters inviting them to join the Experience Panels which will shape the country’s new social security system.
