John Shearer appointed SLTA president

Highlands hotelier John Shearer has been appointed president of the SLTA, succeeding Edinburgh’s Marshall Bain.

John owns two hotels – Morangie Hotel and Mansfield Castle, both in Tain, Ross-shire. He appointment was confirmed at the SLTA’s annual conference in Edinburgh and he will share his thoughts on the industry and the SLTA in a major interview in the April issue of Trade Talk.

A recent internal reorganisation of the SLTA has seen the trade association introduce a new board of directors, replacing the previous executive committee. This board is chaired by Jim Grierson, former sales director of drinks distributor Maxxium UK, with John Shearer the vice-chairman.

Lawrence Durden, tourism industry manager, industry and enterprise networks, Skills Development Scotland

Glen Gribbon, marketing director, The Macallan at Edrington Group

Stephen Montgomery, SLTA vice-president

Graham Blaikie, SLTA treasurer

Former Gleneagles chairman Peter Lederer is the SLTA’s patron.
