Tennent’s Invests In New Low-emission Trucks

Tennent’s invests in new low-emission trucks

TENNENT’S iconic red T has taken on a greener tinge as the wholesaler unveils a fleet of lower-emission trucks across Scotland.

The company has made a significant investment in the trucks which operate Euro 6 diesel engines, helping reduce harmful pollutants, improve fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions as they travel thousands of miles up and down the country.

This new fleet carries the livery of the company’s five main brands – Tennent’s Lager, Caledonia Best, Magners Irish Cider, Heverlee and Menabrea. The vehicle rollout reflects Tennent’s commitment to increased transportation efficiency as part of a range of initiatives aimed at reducing its impact on the environment.

The firm’s commitment focuses on reductions in consumption of energy, water and other raw materials as well as waste going to landfill and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Major investment in upgrading equipment and monitoring systems in the last year has seen improvements in electricity, gas and water usage per hectolitre of product produced at the Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow.

Last year saw Tennent’s achieve zero waste to landfill and receive a Silver Award for Environmental Excellence from charity Keep Scotland Beautiful in recognition of improvements in environmental quality and reducing waste at the site.

Pat Morrissey, group operations director, said: “As Scotland’s oldest brewer and one-stop wholesaler to the trade we are incredibly conscious of our carbon footprint and that, of course, extends to the vehicles we use to transport our products.

“We’ve invested in this new fleet of vehicles to ensure we’re operating more efficiently to meet our commitment to reduce our environmental impact.

“Ensuring our company operates in a responsible manner is a key priority for Tennent’s and these new trucks are further evidence of the steps we will continue to take to meet that commitment.”
