Finance Secretary Derek Mackay unveiled a budget for growth and public services as he announced new investment in healthcare, education and local services, combined with support for jobs through lower business rates.

Unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage points over the year and there are 28,000 more people in employment than at the pre-recession peak, in the latest labour market statistics published by the Office for National Statistics for August to October 2016.

The Transport Minister announced that monthly and annual season ticket holders will benefit from a free week of travel on our railways and confirmed £3 million for fare offers to thank passengers for their patience during the investment and improvement of rail services.
