Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scholarships

Are you hungry for success and want to progress your career by learning new skills and enhancing your personal development? The SLTA, in collaboration with The BEN, is sponsoring five HIT Scholarships in 2017

HAVE you applied for a Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scholarship or do you have an employee who is ready for the challenge and would benefit from the experience?

Earlier this year the Scottish Licensed Trade Association joined forces with The Scottish Licensed Trade Benevolent Society (The BEN) to sponsor five Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scholarships.

We are sponsoring five placements across a range Scholarships:

  • Lausanne (Management) Scholarship: a two-day management and leadership course at the renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland
  • London Capital Gains Scholarship: combining theoretical learning at Glion’s London campus within Roehampton University
  • The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 4 Scholarship: a nationally-accredited qualification to develop leadership skills
  • Mixology Course: to gain an understanding of cocktails, equipment and suppliers
  • Social Media Scholarship: embraces all the new technologies available to support your business in reaching new markets

Offering local, national and international training opportunities, HIT scholarships allow recipients to update their skills within the industry, enhance personal development and bring fresh ideas back to Scottish businesses.

SLTA chief executive Paul Waterson said: “We conducted trade research which showed that 94% of our nation’s licensed premises were investing more in training. Our involvement in these career-changing HIT Scholarships reinforces our commitment to the Scottish hospitality and tourism industry.”

HIT Scotland’s chief executive, David Cochrane, added: “HIT Scotland is delighted to be able to broaden the reach of the Scholarships to a greater industry audience though our collaboration with The BEN and the SLTA.

“The opportunities available are immense and the feedback from the scholarships has been very beneficial to businesses – we look forward to the next round of Scholarships and welcome applications from people of all ages.”

Chris Gardner, chief executive of The BEN, said: “While we support many members of the licensed trade industry facing difficulties, the HIT Scholarships provide a great opportunity to help develop some of the trade’s brightest young minds.

“The SLTA and HIT Scotland are key supporters of The BEN so it was nice we could give something back and work together on this initiative.”

Applications for the 2017 HIT Scotland Scholarship Programme are now open and close on Friday, November 25, 2016. Interviews will take place during January 2017 and the Scholarships will be awarded at the Scholarships Awards Presentation at the HIT Emerging Talent Conference in February 2017.
