Scottish Tourism Alliance Autumn Conference – double discount for SLTA members

The line-up for this year’s Scottish Tourism Alliance Annual Autumn Conference at the EICC has been announced and if you’re quick off the mark, you’ll get a double discount on your ticket through the SLTA’s membership of the STA and the early bird ticket offer which ends on July 31.

This year’s event, on October 7, has a packed programme, starting with an interview with Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs. Delegates will then hear the most up-to-date economic outlook for the tourism industry from one of the UK’s leading financial and economic expert, Philip Bartlett, an economist at RBS Group.

Crieff Hydro owner Stephen Leckie, in his capacity as chair of the Tourism Leadership Group, will provide an update on the national Tourism Strategy TS2020 with one year left to go. He will then announce the “big reveal” of the future vision and mission of the Tourism Strategy Beyond 2020, and outline the priority areas of focus.

Tourism is, of course, all about people, and in the final session before lunch titled A Human Future, delegates will hear four different perspectives on how we can build a stronger industry for the future through our people.

Afternoon sessions will explore topics such as improving mental health within the industry; future-proofing tourism with learnings from Glasgow’s circular economy; growing profit through data; and how we can deliver better quality experiences through collaboration in our destinations.

There are also a number of networking opportunities throughout the day and delegates are invited to stay on after conference for a networking and G & Tea experience (sampling the new Scottish Tourism Alliance gin!).
