SLTA joins forces with Boutique Bar Show Scotland

If you want to rub shoulders with the industry’s movers and shakers and discover new trends, products and techniques then the Boutique Bar Show Scotland is the place to be this month

INTERNATIONAL speakers, boutique producers and guest bartenders will come together for the annual Boutique Bar Show Scotland at Mansfield Traquair in Edinburgh on October 26.

Playing host to Scotland’s finest bars, restaurants, hotels and retailers, the one-day event offers an excellent opportunity for people to network as well as discover new products, trends and techniques that can improve their customers’ drinking experience.

This year, for the first time, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association is hosting a lounge offering a drop-in service for visitors who wish to find out more information about the trade association, our services and the many benefits we offer members. Our training partner, Pearson, and our legal partner, Hill Brown, will both be there to answer your questions.

Andrew Scutts, founder of the Boutique Bar Show, said: “Working in partnership with the SLTA guests to the show will be able to get the latest legal, training and career advice from a panel of experts in the new Boutique Business Lounge.

“It will also offer an informal opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings of the current state of the industry and we’re delighted to be partnering with the SLTA this year for the first time. We can offer a really broad range of experiences in 2016.”

The show, which also has events in Manchester and London, promises something for everyone, as Andrew explains: “Business owners can drop into our new business lounge with the SLTA or participate in our recruitment and retention of talent workshop while bartenders have two of the world’s finest flying in to share their experiences – Marian Beke of The Gibson Bar in London and Leonardo Leuci of the Jerry Thomas Project in Rome, who will both be presenting on the main stage.”

Visitors to the show can also take ideas and inspiration from menus and recipes from the top 100 venues around the UK in a new ‘10 out of 10’ feature in association with the relaunched CLASS magazine.

Additional show experiences include the opportunity to blend your Armagnac with Lauvia brand ambassador Matthew Dakers and compare some of Scotland’s newest bars with some more established venues in a new school/old school bar feature.

New product launches include Nginious Smoked & Salted Gin from Switzerland with local producers such as Makar Glasgow Gin (The Glasgow Distillery Company), R&B Distillers from the Borders and Tyne and Wear-based business Poetic License all involved. Boutique drinks agencies include Emporia Brands, Mangrove, Cellar Trends and Maverick Drinks.

SLTA chief executive Paul Waterson said: “This is a great opportunity to communicate with not only bartenders but also buyers and those who run multiple outlets, and it will also help us promote the SLTA to new brands and boutique brand owners as part of our long-term strategy to engage with the younger people working in our industry.”
