It is expected that next week further restrictions to combat Covid-19 will be announced, including an extension of the Covid Vaccine Certification Scheme into the wider hospitality sector. Whilst recognising the importance of reducing transmission rates, this needs to be done in an effective way which does not have a severely negative impact on the livelihoods of business owners and the staff employed in those businesses.
The impact of extending the Covid Vaccine Certification Scheme, in its current form, will have devastating consequences for all those involved in the industry. Trade bodies continue to lobby the Scottish Government for new financial support and for the specifically hospitality targeted Covid Passport Scheme to be reviewed.
